News

28th January - a new gig has been arranged for Tuesday 20th March at Storrington Acoustic Club, currently housed in GJ's Guitar Emporium, 4A West Street, Storrington, RH20 4EE. Slow Dazzle will play a 20 minute acoustic set, and there will be 2-3 other artists to savour. We're advised that anyone planning to attend should 'bring a folding chair and a mug for a cuppa'! Entry is free, gratis, etc. Also, two more pages of live photos are now up and running - the first from the gig at The Warwick in July 2011, and the second from the band's recent and very successful night at Grand Central.

21st January - news update from SD - gigs are being lined up, the CD is still in preparation and the recent gig at Grand Central has been professionally recorded and a live album will be coming. Watch this space for more details of all events

12th December - Well dudes, the great news is that the Grand Central gig is full steam ahead, and that there might be a gig at The Warwick in Worthing the night before (12th January. The bad news is that The Hole In The Wall in Chichester has withdrawn as a music venue, and therefore the gig on 28th January won't be happening. Losers.... CD is still being prepared....

31st October - Slow's Dazzle big night at Grand Central in Worthing has now been rescheduled for Friday 13th January 2012. And don't forget that our next gig at The Hole In The Wall in Chichester follows two weeks later on Saturday 28th January. Also, Slow Dazzle's new CD is being readied for release. More details will follow soon.

16th September - Slow Dazzle's big night at The Jook House, which is now known as 'Grand Central', is being rescheduled as we speak (or write). Please watch this space for details.

20th August - Slow Dazzle play The Jook House in Worthing next Friday night (26th August). It should be a great night, and tickets are only £5.00. It's a great venue, use it or lose it is the advice to the people of Worthing and thereabouts:-)

17th July - the band recorded two new songs for the their forthcoming elpee at Soundlocker Studios yesterday - 'Eyes Full Of Gold (Like The Universe)' and 'Ain't Living Long Like This'. These are, of course, band originals (there are no longer any covers in the band's set - even the much loved 'Tales Of Brave Ulysses' has been shelved in favour of stronger home grown material). Both of these songs, and everything else the band has recorded for the new elpee (and the songs from 'Songs Of The Universe') can be heard on Slow Dazzle's MySpace page. What are you waiting for?!

15th July - great gig at The Warwick in Worthing last night - probably the best the band has yet performed live. They're back there on Thursday 8th September for more!

13th July 2011 - our last gig at GJ's was cancelled at very short notice - sorry for any inconvenience that caused. It wasn't down to us:-( Our next gig at GJ's has been brought forward from 8th August to 1st August - all other details remain the same

15th June 2011 - Slow Dazzle have arranged two more gigs at GJ's Guitar Emporium in Storrington - Monday 11th June and Monday 8th August, both starting at 8.00pm

8th June 2011 - Slow Dazzle's gig in Storrington was an overwhelming success, and the band revealed a different side to their nature - that of a quieter, more introspective groove. They will be back at GJ's in July for another go - watch this space for the date. It will, however, be a Monday

30th May 2011 - Slow Dazzle will be playing their next gig at GJ's Guitar Emporium in Storrington next Monday, 6th June. Kick-off at 8.00pm, entrance is only £1.00. Also, their EP 'Songs Of The Universe' has been reviewed very favourably on 'Stoned Sun Vibrations'....

15th May 2011 - Slow Dazzle are now on Facebook. We'd love you all to do the 'social networking' thing and make us bigger than Uranus.....

8th May 2011 - Slow Dazzle played the Japanse Tsunami Benefit at The Jook House in Worthing last night, headlining the event. The gig was a great success, although the turnout in support of the event could have been more impressive.... Slow Dazzle would like to thank Bob Brookes for hosting the event, Billie-Jo Maynard for her excellent PR skills, and Fixed Wheel and The Desperate Dan Band for contributing their excellent services free of charge. 27th April 2011 - Slow Dazzle have added another gig to their current 'world tour', GJs Guitar Emporium in Storrington on 6th June, 8.00-10.00pm.

3rd April 2011 - Slow Dazzle will be playing live at The Jook House in Worthing on Friday 26th August. More details, including ticket pricing and availability, will be here soon.

28th March 2011 - Slow Dazzle have arranged a fund-raising gig for the survivors of the tsunami in Japan (all funds to go to the Red Cross Appeal). The gig will be at The Jook House in Worthing, on Saturday 7th May. Tickets will be £10.00, and can be bought online, at Music Mania in Worthing [21 West Buildings, Worthing, BN11 3BS; 01903 203489), or on the door on the night. Other bands on the bill are Bob Brookes and the Desperate Dan Band, John Limpus' Fixed Wheel, and Everyday Superheroes (all the way from Northern Ireland). Watch this space for more details! The band are also planning their own gig at The Jook House....

17th January 2011 - Slow Dazzle recorded two new songs at Soundlocker Studios yesterday! The songs were 'I Felt The Whole World Turn Beneath Me' and 'The Three Heads Of Cerberus'. The songs sound superb, and thanks to Win at Soundlocker for doing such a great job on the knobs and switches. Watch this space for a CD release. For some photos of the recording session, go here.

28th December 2010 - Slow Dazzle will be playing at The Hole In The Wall pub in Chichester on Saturday 26th February, taking to the stage at 9.00pm. The Hole In The Wall is located at 1 St Martin's Street, Chichester, PO19 1NP. Bring a friend and some ear plugs!

19th December 2010 - Slow Dazzle's next gig will be at The Hole In The Wall pub in Chichester. The exact date has yet to be confirmed, but it will be either a Friday or Saturday night in February. Full details will be posted here as soon as they are known. The HITW is a well-known rock pub in the centre of Chichester and it should be a great night. Also, the band will be returning to Soundlocker Studios in mid-January to record some new songs, which should form the bulk of the follow-up to 'Songs Of The Universe'. 10th October 2010 - Slow Dazzle played their first gig for 7 months at Northern Lights in Brighton last Monday. Photos are here. Please also note that there are only a few copies of 'Songs Of The Universe' left. If you don't already have one please contact this website before it's too late! 'Songs From The Universe' is now sold out.

20th August 2010 - 'Songs Of The Universe' in CD format, featuring 7 tracks (including 2 'hidden' songs), is now available to buy from the band. 'Songs From The Universe', a 10 track CD of revisions and remixes of 'Song Of The Universe' is free with 'Songs Of The Universe' [which costs £5.00 with free postage]. 'Songs From The Universe' is also £5.00 if you want to buy it separately. And don't forget the gig at Northern Lights on Monday 4th October - both CD's will be available to buy on the night.

2nd August 2010 - 'Songs Of The Universe' is now available via Amazon.

29th July 2010 - 'Songs Of The Universe' has now been submitted, via CD Baby, to all the world's major digital distributors. To buy it now go direct to CD Baby. The digital release features four songs: 'Sunfighter', 'The Ballad Of Norbert Dentressangle And Christian Salvesen', 'Joanne' and 'Song Of The Universe'. The full CD release will follow on 1st September and the actual CD will feature one extra listed track ['Tales Of Brave Ulysses'], as well as at least one 'hidden' bonus track. 6th July 2010 - a new drummer has arrived! Paul Mackey is Slow Dazzle's new drummer, and is already rehearsing with the band. Also, 'Songs Of The Universe' is almost ready for release - the artwork is now complete, and copies will soon be rolling off the presses. And don't forget the next gig is scheduled for Monday 4th October, at Northern Lights in Brighton.

22nd June 2010 - lots of news, some good, some not so good. First up, Slow Dazzle are pleased to announce the upcoming release of their first EP, entitled 'Songs Of The Universe'. This will be a five track CD featuring the following songs: 'Sunfighter', 'The Ballad Of Norbert Dentressangle And Christian Salvesen', 'Joanne', 'Tales Of Brave Ulysses' and 'Song Of The Universe'. Four of the songs are written by the band, with the other one being a cover of a Cream song (the first song Eric Clapton ever claimed to have written, in fact!). The CD will be available through this website very soon. Click here to see the details. Secondly, the band have announced their next gig - at Northern Lights in Brighton again, on Monday 4th October. Kick-off will be at 8.00pm and entry is free. Be there or be .... not deaf, at least! Finally, and on a more downbeat note, Simon has left the group. Slow Dazzle would like to thank Simon for the immense contribution he made during his brief sojourn with the band and wish him every success for the future. So, the search for a new drummer is on. Again....

6th June 2010 - Slow Dazzle have been recording at Soundlocker Studios. The session has resulted in three completed songs, all band originals. They are: 'Sunfighter', 'Joanne' and 'Song Of The Universe'. Please go here to have a listen. The band will be looking to put these songs and 2-3 more on a CD for commercial release in the near future. Watch this space! The next gig will also be announced shortly, probably in early October. Again, watch this space!

8th May 2010 - Slow Dazzle has a new drummer. His name is Simon Starns and he will bring a wealth of talent and experience to the band that will help to drive them forwards. Welcome aboard Simon! The band are now entering a new phase of creative development, both in terms of recording, gigging and just general playing. The next recording session is in early June and gigs will be arranged as soon as possible. On with the show!

25th April 2010 - We are still searching for a drummer, but are hoping to have someone in place by the end of next week. As a result, the band have not had time to focus on the upcoming gig, so unfortunately this is now cancelled. To reiterate, the gig at Northern Lights on Tuesday 11th May is cancelled. As soon as new live dates are arranged they will be posted here. Please continue to watch the site for updates.

26th March 2010 - Mark Foxwell has left Slow Dazzle - the band would like to thank Mark for his dedication and excellent playing over the past year. The search for a new drummer is already under way - any potential applicants reading this should email the band via the email link!

23rd March 2010 - Slow Dazzle would like to congratulate former band member Andy Bushell and his wife Charlotte on the birth of their first son Thomas David Bushell, who arrived in time for breakfast this morning!

20th March 2010 - Slow Dazzle's next gig has been announced as Tuesday 11th May, again at Northern Lights in Brighton. The gig will commence at 8.00pm. See the flyer here. See you there! Recording at Soundlocker Studios is also confirmed for early June. Depending on the results there may well be a commercial release - that is, a CD and digital downloads available. Watch this space!

1st March 2010 - don't forget Slow Dazzle's gig at Northern Lights, Brighton, on Thursday 4th March. The set will be 16 songs, 7 of which will be new and 4 of these are band originals! Be there or be square!

24th January 2010 - Slow Dazzle's next gig has been arranged for Thursday 4th March 2010, back at Northern Lights in Brighton. The band will take to the stage at 9.00pm. Watch out for flyers near you!

24th January 2010 - three songs from the debut gig at Northern Lights have been uploaded to the music page, 'Communication Breakdown' (originally by Led Zeppelin), 'Words (Between The Lines Of Age)' (originally by Neil Young) and 'The Cross You Choose To Bear' (a band original).

17th January 2010 - Slow Dazzle played their debut gig at Northern Lights in front of a very friendly and enthusiastic audience! Thanks to everyone for being there - you know who you are! Photos of the evening can be seen here. The set lasted for just over an hour and the band played 13 songs ('Tales Of Brave Ulysses' twice, as there was nothing left for the encore!). The next gig will probably be at Northern Lights again, in about 6 weeks. Full details will follow!

16th January 2010 - Slow Dazzle will be playing at Northern Lights in Brighton (see links page), on stage at 9.00pm. Be there or be square!

21st November 2009- Slow Dazzle recorded four songs at Soundlocker Studios in Lancing, with Win Stanley producing. The songs recorded were 'Silver Machine', 'Tales Of Brave Ulysses', 'The Ballad Of Norbert Dentressangle And Christian Salvesen' and 'If I Were A Carpenter'
